Serena Williams, who hasn’t played an official tennis match since injuring her foot in July, is scheduled to play an exhibition event including Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in Oregon on March 8.
Williams will also be playing alongside former Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova in the Nike “Clash of Champions” event in Eugene, Oregon, according to statements on the websites of Sharapova and the Matthew Knight Arena host venue.
Williams, who has dropped to 12th place from No. 1 on the rankings of the WTA tour, is scheduled to play a singles set against Sharapova of Russia, followed by a mixed-doubles set. The event will also feature a men’s singles set between top- ranked Nadal and the second-ranked Federer.
Williams, 29, hasn’t played competitively since she retained her Wimbledon title in July. The American said she cut her foot on a shard of glass in Germany following that victory and had surgery later that month. She had a second operation in October after re-tearing a tendon in her right foot.

Captain, do you mean Serena is going to play an exhibition match or go on an expedition? I'm confused. Haha. :P Don't worry at times I like to kid the people I like. :P
I hope Serena takes the recovery slowly and not rush things. I'm thinking she should skip at least half or all the clay court season. What do you think Captain?
Ahahaha, oh my! Sorry, I am just so tired!
I think she should play as little on clay as possible! Maybe she should just play Rome! And I hope she plays Miami! I don't think she will be going to Charleston, and she hasn't got too many points to defend in Madrid! If I were her I would play Rome and Roland Garros on clay, then Wimbledon.
