Eye on the Big Apple - Day one wrap up!
The first women's match on Arthur Ashe saw women's third seed Maria Sharapova come with in a whisker of being a huge upset. The Wimbledon runner up struggled with her play throughout the match as she took over two and half hours to dispatch 19 year old Heather Watson, 3-6 7-5 6-3. Sharapova was plagued with unforced errors during her match, hitting an astonishing 58.
Petra Kvitova, who defeated Sharapova to claim her first major title at Wimbledon, was not as fortunate as the Russian in her first round match. Kvitova's tough match up which was always a possibility for a surprise saw Romania's Alexandra Dulgheru victorious 7-6 6-3. Dulgheru has been suffering injury since the beginning of the clay season, but seems to be finding her way back into form. Petra did put in a good bid for the unforced error count, but fell short only managing 52.
Only playing her 11th match of the season, Venus Williams was not expected to perform well in any aspect. The seven time slam champion, served very well in her 6-4 6-3 victory over Vesna Dolonts. Speak of Venus; for the fashionista's amongst us, she didn't look to trashy and I liked the dress from the front...I just hope she doesn't turn around!
Agnieszka wan the battle of the Radwanska's while Madison Keys, Laura Robson, Julia Goerges, Vera Zvonareva, Tsvetana Pironkova, Marion Bartoli, Dominika Cibulkova and Samantha Stosur all posted sound wins.
US Open Series surprise packet, Christina McHale won a tough three set match over Canadian qualifier Aleksandra Wozniak, 6-3 6-7 6-4.

U.S. Open official website is live streaming a couple of games.
Robson match being one of them.
Robson lost the first set, just to bug the Captain. :P
BTW yesterday:
Pennetta downed Rezai
Halep upset Na Clefairy loses a fav.
WickiWickiWicki downed Sorana
Licki Bean, Imbecile, Peer advanced.
...and The Dude won
If anyone had Rezai and Sorana winning then you haven't been paying attention to what I've been saying.
Would've liked to see Halep beat Na Li but I didn't watch any tennis yesterday. All my women were relaxing off court.
16 year old Madison Keys is leading Safarova 6-3, 3-3.
Some matches of interest all times are Eastern and approximate:
13:30 Bartoli - McHale (Grandstand)
14:00 Pous-Tio - Goerges (Court 17)
14:30 V. Williams - Lisicki (Arthur Ashe Stadium)
17:30 Kerber - Radwanska (Grandstand)
Robson lost, too bad Captain :P maybe just maybe next time. *laughing like an evil villain in an old Kung Fu movie like the Captain*
Breaking News: Madison Keys lost the second set 5-7. She started the first set going up 5-0 against Safarova.
The Princess won rather easily.
In the Romaining match Niculescu over Dulgheru.
Because I want to keep bugging the Captain and Clefairy: Furby won yesteday. :P
Looks like ESPN3 is now called Watch Espn and had to update my bookmark because its now a 404 page.
Anyway, McHale is about to start on ESPN3 and watching Julia on Uverse.. She's down 0-2 in the first set.
Madison Keys lost. The "Maddie, Maddie" chant seemed to annoy Safarova to me as well. Nothing against Madison, the guy chanting was annoying.
Thanks Caps. I'm sure you will be glued for an hour and half or two.
Julia is running away with this match she's up 6-3, 4-1.
The McHale/Bartoli match is very good so far. McHale was down 0-2 and evened it up 3-3. Now Bartoli is leading 4-3.
McHale wins the first set 7-6! YEAH!
McHale won!!
Thanks for the help Sponge Bart.
The Princess against McHale in the third round.
Breaking News: Licki Bean advances over Venus on Walk Over.
Peng vs.Julia G. in the third.
ESPN3 was showing a graphic with McHale, Stephens and Keys as being up and coming... I wonder if Mr. Oudin and her 1st round knock out is feeling a wee bit depressed?
Sjögren's syndrome also known as "Mikulicz disease" and "Sicca syndrome", is a systemic autoimmune disease in which immune cells attack and destroy the exocrine glands that produce tears and saliva.
That doesn't sound like a very good time for Venus.
Square pants leads Princess 4-1 in their head to head. So, I think McHale is going to give her quite a bit of trouble. Because she out played Bartoli today.
That said, Bartoli was living at the net and McHale either doesn't have a 'lob' or wanted her at the net. Also she could work on finishing points off at the net. But, I'm very ecstatic for Ms. Mchale and her win today!
Irini Falconi just came up with an amazing 'get' at the net on match point and sent Cibulkova home!
She was also down 1-4 in the third set. I only started watching at the end.
Thanks Caps! I was about to ask on the whereabouts of Mr. Oundin, or should I say Mr. Oudin who?
Contrasting Mr. Oudin with McHale. Mr. Oudin was a flash in the sky, while McHale has done it progressively. Everyone has seen McHale's progress while we have seen the fall of Mr. Oudin.
High fives to the Captain and Clefairy! :) You ladies predicted McHale's victory over Square Pants.
On Keys' match and McHale's a ton of unforced errors were committed on both matches.
McHale article:

Aggie lost the first set 6-3, won the second 6-4 and trails in the third 1-2. I forgot she was playing and just started watching the last couple points.
Btw, did Aggie get her clothing sponsor already? She's wearing a dress which is very uncharacteristic and its not very form fitting like her usual style.. Which leads me to believe it wasn't 'her' choice.
Just started watching right before the third set of this Aggie/Kerber match.
Kerber has hit the ball over Aggie's head and passed her while at the net at least 8 times in this set alone.
Aggie just lost the third set 6-3.
BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Looks like the Halep match on court 4 won't be televised.
Coming up today:
Jelena Jankovic(SRB)[11] vs. Jelena Dokic(AUS)
Don't think this one is televised:
Rebecca Marino(CAN)/Christina McHale(USA) vs. Maria Kirilenko(RUS)[5]/Nadia Petrova(RUS)[5]
Wicki is suppose to be teamed with Ula in doubles today but she pulled out of her singles match yesterday. I guess it was overshadowed by Venus because I can't find anything on the injury or whether she is playing doubles or not.
The only other match I'm interested in which comes on tonight would be:
Caroline Wozniacki(DEN)[1] vs. Arantxa Rus(NED)
And that's ONLY if Bunny gets spanked!
High drama in the JJ/Dokic match. JJ called like 3 time outs for her back and Dokic had 15 double faults and therefore is sent packing.
Caps sorry that I was late but the JJ match was stream at the official U.S. Open website. It was a quick match. I didn't see it but I when tried to get a peek the match was done. Check the live scores and you will find the stream. I think the Halep match was streamed too.
Two more walkovers one I'm not buying. The Fist Pumping Imbecile never step into court, that lucky Imbecile move on. The other walk other is the Dancing Buffoon (from the imbecile kingdom) she pulled out. Last I saw she was losing 1-4 in the first. Jie was spanking her dancing butt.
Like you Caps I'm hoping Rus kicks the Bunny's court making out butt!
Since I'm been angry for days due to outside reasons I'll let my blue collar crass show. I was watching the Divapova final in Cincinnati, my sister took a glimpse at the match and told me referring to Divapova, "She gained weight". Yes she has, the vitamin that she gets injected and ingested has made her gain weight, she has to thank Sasha for that... I see emails and Tweets coming my way.
I have to make a correction Petkovic didn't retire. I checked the completed matches at the official U.S. Open website and it said walkover. Right now she is serving for the match. Sorry for the mistake.
The Dancing Buffoon just won, she joins her mentor the Imbecile in the third round.
Great she is dancing and she suck!
I'm waiting for a loser of a match against the Buffoon to walk up to Buffoon while she is dancing and punch her...I mean confront her.
Peer lost. Somewhere in Florida Caps321 is laughing, strangely his laugh sounds very much like the Captain's.
Bunny won. Booooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
