Thanks for that added info Caps :) Wow, huge news on Chakvetadze! Guess this is hinting she is tired with tennis :( And in the past year and half she was slowly working her way back. A real shame.

Tokyo: Second-seeded Maria Sharapova earned a hard-fought 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4) win over 13th-seeded Julia Goerges of Germany on Wednesday to advance to the Pan Pacific Open quarterfinals.

Sharapova came back from a 3-1 deficit in the first set and then rallied from 5-3 down in the second.

"It was a tough match," Sharapova said. "Two sets go to tiebreak, I was pleased that although I really didn't play my best in the match I stepped it up in the tiebreaks and that was the difference."

Sharapova will face fifth-seeded Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic on Thursday in a rematch of this year's Wimbledon final. Kvitova beat Vania King of the United States 6-1, 7-6 (4).

Sounds to me like Julia choked big time.

Kanepi won the first set 7-5 against Bunny. Lost the second 1-6 and tied in the third 4-4.

Aggie vs JJ up next.

Kanepi was down 0-3 in the third and won 6-4! DOWN WITH THE BUNNY! So funny, Bunny just stormed off the court in disgust.

Princess won against Ana Ivanovic (SRB), 6-3, 6-1

Very impressed with Kaia today, had not seen much of her at all, but played very well. Would have won in straight sets if she was able to sustain her level of intensity! Bunny is losing her edge against lower ranked players.

Princess destroyed Ana, I expected it to be very close. Maria has been very impressive since the USO, looks like she is finally living up to herself, don't want to speak to soon however.

I totally understand Sharapova winning the first set, but Julia totally should have taken into three, no excuses. Needs to close leads out to try and imporve and aim for solid top 20 - top 10.

I am tipping Aggie in three, should be quite interesting. JJ has found her self in a bit of form lately.

The biggest shock of the day for me was Bartoli's result with Peng, I completely tipped Peng to win that.

Emily, just got back by the computer and saw the end of a replay with Diva falling on the ground. Ah, I figured Ostrich changed direction on Diva and she hurt her ankle. But, now I see it was on her own serve.

Ostrich looks very fit! WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Guess this means Aggie will be starting sooner than later.
