Serena conquered Canada, bring on Cinci!

Serena Williams has confirmed why she is the greatest of her generation once more. Every player in the top 20 entered Toronto but it was world number 80, Serena Williams who came out on top. After losing sets in the third round and quarter finals Williams powered her way to defeat 4th (Victoria Azarenka) and 10th (Samantha Stosur) seeded players in the semi's and final, losing just six games in each straight set victory.

After missing a whole year due to injury Williams made a comeback during the grass court season making the 4th round of Wimbledon. During her lengthy injury time off Williams survived a near death experience with a haematoma and had down proven once again, never discount Serena Williams.

Winning the final in Toronto 6-4 6-2 of Australian Stosur is the second Rogers Cup title for Williams, the first coming 10 years ago after beating Jennifer Capriati in the final. It is also Williams' 39th career titleand is projected to let her rise to 31 in the world rankings on Monday...hello US Open seeding.

The Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati begins play tomorrow, although missing from the field is defending champ Kim Clijsters, red hot Anginezka Radwanska and seven time slam champ Venus Williams.

I can now say that Licki Bean has had a terrible summer. When expectation are high the higher the disappointment, I thought she would be dominating and she hasn't; and to lose to Peer in the first round is pretty awful.

Aggie has been the surprise of the summer, I still think she is playing too many tournaments so I think she will have an early exit in this tournament. Hope I'm wrong.

Another surprise of the summer U.S. hard court has been Serena dominating. Two tournaments two titles.

Jeepers! Scheepers will play against the Ostrich in the second round.

I'm going to wait and see how McHale does in this tournament.
The Fist Pumping Imbecile has yet another easy draw, Imbecilites will pump every victory as a great accomplishment.

Watched the first set between Ms. Bean and Peer... Bean was all over the place and Peer was still barely getting the balls back. Just a case of too many errors.

Didn't get to see Julia's match but I'm rather disappointed she's already out of the tournament.

Thanks Caps for the info on Bean/Peer match.

Caps I got the stats on hard court for Julia G.

2007 Won:3 Lost:4

2008 Won:6 Lost:6

2009 Won:6 Lost:7

2010 Won:16 Lost:12

2011 Won:6 Lost:9 (so far)

Has not made past the second round in the USO.

This year was her best showing at Wimbledon reaching the third round. Previous years 2008, 09, and 10, being knocked out in the first round.

Thanks, Carlos.

Princess d. Zheng 7-6(2), 6-3.

Julia/Kuzzie d. Petko/Schiavone 7-6, 1-6, 10-5.

Would have liked to see this match:

*n64 wc Christina McHale USA d n50 Tsvetana Pironkova BUL 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 Mon

I think they changed courts because it was listed yesterday then vanished. Btw, isn't Pironkova the one that embarrassed Venus a couple times?

Emily or as Carlos likes to call me "Captain" said...

Yes Caps, Pironkova is the one who has owned Venus at WImbledon...twice

Said the Captain reluctantly. :P

McHale vs Bunny coming up in 30 minutes at 11am Eastern.

Will McHale be able to steal the Bunny's eggs and embarrass her in front of the golfer? I sure hope so!

Bunny loses her cool and hits the ball off the backstop behind her..

McHale takes the first set 6-4!

Seems there has been a power failure at the Cincinnati stadium.

McHale is leading 6-4, 2-3. So I'm scoreboard watching for the moment.

Also, I believe Princess was up on Schiavone but must've buckled under the pressure and lost the first set 7-5.

McHale wins 6-4, 7-5! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

McHale won!!! Sweeeeeeeeeeet!

Second tournament the Bunny goes one and done.

Is this our furious number one leader?

Captain you are beginning to look like a prophet, you predicted the Bunny's down fall in the summer U.S. hard courts.

The Princess came back to win the second set 6-3 and leading the third 3-0.

Looks like Princess blew that 3-0 lead and lost 6-4 in the third. What a shame.

I'm still amped up about McHale taking out Bunny! Looks to me like she might make it to the quarters as well.. Next up will be Imbecile or Petrova. (Kvitova or Petko will likely be her quarters opponent if that works out.)

Also Serena pulled out with a gimpy toe.

The Imbecile lost! What a day!!

Not surprised that Pennetta lost.

WickiWickiWicki lost, she has been a disappointment this second half of the year.

JJ won in three sets. Is she still a legitimate threat? Sadly IMO no.

McHale lost in doubles.

...But the news of the day is McHale taking out The Big Stuffed Bunny! Haha
