My moment of Patriotism - Jelena Dokic wins in Paris.

Jelena Dokic posted a rare WTA tour victory in Paris as she renewed her bid to break back into the top echelon this year.

Dokic overcame Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic 4-6 6-3 6-4 and fired down 11 aces but lost her serve twice as she advanced to the second round.

Dokic, who made the second round of the Australian Open last month, had to slog her way through qualifying to reach the main draw.

Dokic, ranked No. 120 in the world, has said she is confident of climbing to the top 30 given that she has few points to defend until July.

''I feel good about the year. I think I'm not in bad shape physically or mentally or with my tennis at all. Just certain things need work,'' she said after exiting the Open last month.

At times I find myself rooting for Dokic. Root on Captain!

My question to you Captain, if The Princess is playing against Dokic who do you root for?

I wanted to ask you this question Captain, in AO 09 Dokic defeated The Big Stuffed Bunny in the third round, probably you were at that match. After The Big Bunny lost second set, she stood in the middle of the court and ran out the court through the tunnel. I thought she went to the bathroom, reports said that she was throwing up in the tunnel, she said in the press conference after the match that there was a cooling zone in the tunnel and she headed there. Do you now the truth about this? I remember seeing Dokic shaking her head in disapprovement when the Bunny ran out of the court. Did that tick off Dokic and fueled her comeback?

Dokic took down Petrova! That is a nice surprise!

It is hard to root against Dokic.

Carlos, Dokic is my favorite Australian, I will root for her no matter who she plays!

I actually was not at that match! Shock horror! But that may have been the fire that ignited the comeback from her!

And yes Carlos, its hard not to root for her, after what she suffered!

Caps321, I agree fully, Jelena will make Kim earn the top spot, if Dokic is playing her best, and it is a strong possibility that Dokic will be able to pull off the upset! (That's what ill be rooting for!)

Wow, I was hoping for a more competitive match! Although I think its great Kimmie has regained her rightful spot at the top.

Now, it'll be interesting to see where the bunny goes from here.. My guess is she's demoralized and will go home and cry.. while clutching her stuffed bunny.

Its great to see a deserving world number 1!

She will be hit hard mentally loose all her points from Indian Wells etc. And fall badly in the US Open hard court series, and the Asian hard court series...and fail to qualify for the YEC and thus fall not only out of the top 10 but the top 20...I hope

Sorry to burst your bubble Captain, but if possible she will play juniors to rack up points to stay on top 10.

Caps321, she calls her stuffed animal "Snow".
