Women's draw anaylsis.

With the first Grand Slam only one sleep away, and Melbourne Park ready to roll out the "Blue Carpet" for the fashionable ladies! I see it the perfect time to dissect and analyze the Women's Darw.

First Quarter.

Headlined by top seed Caroline Wozniacki, the section also features Justine Henin, Francesca Schiavone and Svetlana Kuznetsova. Wozniacki will have a tough potential third round battle with Dominika Cibulková, who was her victor in Sydney just last week. The winner to set up another potentially juicy 4th round clash with Marion Bartoli or Yanina Wickmayer maybe even power house Jarmilla Groth. As hungry as Caroline will be to win her maiden Grand Slam, and show critics she is worthy of being world number, I for see and early loss for the young Dane, leaving her position of number one, to be filled by either Vera Zvonerava or Kim CLijsters.

In the second section, there are also some epic match ups worthy of Grand Slam Semi Final or Final matches. Justine Henin and Svetlana Kuznetsova look poised for a third round battle and the player who emerges victorious could play French Open Champion Francesca Schiavone in the round of 16. Making this possibly one of the best quarters in the whole draw!

Predicted Quarter Final - Yanina Wickmayer vs Svetlana Kuznetsova

Second Quarter

Fourth seeded Venus Williams, will be the biggest name in this section, and with out a doubt the most talented, but she does face a stern test in upcoming matches, how ever despite age, injury and lack of match player she continues to remain a genuine contended for the slams. She will have an uphill battle in the 3rd round if she is to play Andrea Petkovic, and despited being seeded to play Maria Sharapova in the fourth round she most likely play Estonian Kaia Kaneppi, who played in career best form in that second part of 2010.

In  the bottom section of this quarter 9th seed Li Na will most probably fly into the fourth round where she will have a stern test against 8th seed Victoria Azarenka, which will be a very tight match, which either player could easily win. It will be a tough match, with out come likely to be determined by one or two shots.

If Azarenka can play her game, and not loose her cool she should be prevail, but like I said its a 50-50 match.

Predicted Quarter Final - Venus Williams vs Victoria Azarenka

Third Quarter

The obvious name in this quarter is title favorite Kim Clijsters, who will make light work of a returning Dinara Safina, and all her other opponents on road to the fourth round, where she will play a returning now again injured Ana Ivanovic, Nadia Petrova or even carfty swiss Patty Schnyder. The other section of this quarter will be decided between Jelena Jankovic, Agnieszka Radwańska and Russian Alisa Kleybanova. Not a very interesting quarter, which makes it, how ever very easy to predict. I hope.

Predicted Quarter Final - Alisa Kleybanova vs Kim Clijsters

Fourth Quarter

Local hope and 5th seeded Samantha Stosur will fly the Australian Flag and a whole nations hopes in the quarter, but wont have it all her way, despite a seemingly easy first two rounds, she will be challenged by Wimbledon Semi Finalist Petra Kvitova. With the winner to play either 10th seed Shahar Peer or 22nd seed Flavia Pennetta.

In the bottom section 2nd seeded will have some tough matches, Sybille Bammer in the 1st round then Bojana Jovanovski in the second and tricky left hander Lucie Safarova in the 3rd, and also a possible 4th round clash with either Maria Kirilenko or Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, basically guaranteeing a russian in the Quarter Finals.

Predicted Quarter Final - Shahar Peer vs Vera Zvonerava

Hopefully I will make sense, still with the flu and now I'm under the effects of natural Chinese flu medicine.

I agree with you Captain: This is the toughest draw, The Big Stuffed Bunny being upset, your QF, and semi final prediction. The only way The Big Bunny can prove herself is by winning the whole thing. If Kuzzie chokes Wicki, Wicki,Wicki, can sneek into the semis, she has been there before in USO 09 were she lost to The Big Bunny.

Unless something freaky happens to Azarenka (again)I also see her coming out of section. I consider this part of the draw the second toughest. I won't be surprised if Venus gets upset early, due to age, coming out from injury, and because AO has been a Kryptonite to her. Li Na like Azarenka is good dark horse too bad her compatriot Jie is sidelined.

Kim's draw is the easiest if she doesn't win this tournament will be a disappointment in my book. AO to a lesser degree also has been Kryptonite to her, but this tournament is hers for the taking. Kleybanova is the only one who is in Kim's way assuming kleybanova doesn't get upset. I agree with you, Kim clearly comes out of this bracket section.

The last part of the draw I agree with you Captain that Vera will advance to semis. I disagree with you on Peer, I see Flavia P. taking her down in the her round, assuming Peer reaches the third round. She didn't at all convince me in her previous tournament.

QF: I agree with all predictions except Peer, not sold on her. She has an easy path to the third round but I'm banking on Falvia in beating Peer and one of your evil ones "Stosur". If for some reason Peer takes down Flavia she will beat Stosur, something about hometown pressure that Stosur will not handle.

As for the winner I'm sticking with Kuzzie, I know, I know, it will come back and bite me really hard in my posterior, but the pressure will be on Kim. Go Kryptonite! :P Runner up Kim.

Side note: I was looking at a photo of Kim and one the Bryan brothers, with the The Big Bunny in the background. My sister came over and told me that Kim was the older version of the Bunny. Looking at the photo of Kim she said, 'Wow! Caroline looks much older in this photo". I told her, 'That's Kim Caroline is in the background'. What do you think Captain, long lost sisters? :P

Don't worry Carlos, you make perfect sence!

I am very glad someone agress with me! Ahaha! The Bunny needs to do a lot over these next two weeks to win, I don't think she can though. The Kuzzie Wicki QF is a real toss up, depending on what Kuzzie decides to show up on the day. I know that Wicki has been there before, but then again so has Kuzzie!

Azarenka should be able to make the Semi's how ever, stranger things have happened, especialy in tennis! I now hope Venus is upset early, after seeing her dress! Ergh! Hope she can bring out a new one! Li and Azarenka will be a very close match again, and like you said Venus will need battle her "Kryptonite" well one of her two! :P

Kim has been very lucky with the draw and should, should!, glide to the SF and like you said, her only real challenge will be Kleybanova.

Im not too slod on Pennetta latley, because of her recent results and fall in ranks, which I blame souly on Adidas...But the winner of Peer Pennetta will probably make the QF, and I think stosur could be taken out by Kivtova in the 3rd.

I think that this is Vera's tournament! She is ranked high, career best form, but still no pressure, and no hype on her, no expectation's to win. I'm still sticking for Vera beating Azarenka in the final, with Azarenka winning a Slam either this year or next!

Ahahaha! The acctually do look very simillar I have never picked up on it untill now! Maybe they should have some DNA testing, who knows we may have more sisters on tour!
